Tim Ho Wan ~ Hong Kong's Most Famous Dim Sum @Mid Valley City The Boulevard Kuala Lumpur

New Sensational Taste of Hong Kong's
Famous Dim Sum
Tim Ho Wan, Hong Kong's most famous Dim Sum Restaurant, has spread its delicious wings into Malaysia November last year, with its first outlet in Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur. Now, Malaysian no longer needs to travel all the way to Hong Kong to enjoy the popular and authentic Hong Kong dim sum. Take a trip down to Mid Valley Megamall for an escapade to Hong Kong without having to fly

Tim Ho Wan, Hong Kong Michelin Star Dim Sum Restaurant won the plaudits of food critics and hearts of epicureans around the world with its daily freshly made delicious dim sum.

A Delightful Food Tasting Experience with 3 of Tim Ho Wan's Chefs

I was totally thrilled when was invited to review Tim Ho Wan's new offerings of dim sum recently, many thanks to my fellow foodie blogger friend, Pamela Yeoh from Malaysian Foodie. A three new sensational taste sets to wow dim sum lovers with a new range of appetising promotional menu available from March 2015 onwards.

Crystal Shrimp Roll with Century Egg (水晶松花虾卷)
RM 10.50

Top in my list is Crystal Shrimp Roll with Century Egg. Gourmet-heaven dim sum made to tantalize our taste buds, it's a silky wrap of clear rice dumpling filled with shrimp paste and topped with flavourful century egg, fish roe and asparagus. For finishing touch, the delightful dumplings were drenched in savoury abalone sauce.

Steamed Chicken with Fish Maw (北菇棉花鸡)
RM 11.50

Next brought to the table was a freshly Steamed Chicken with Fish Maw. Healthy treat for you to indulge on succulent and juicy, steamed-to-perfection chicken with fresh mushroom and soft fish maw in it silky abalone sauce. Truly a simple yet perfect combination of poultry with seafood, definitely enjoyable among the fish maw lovers.

Signature Five Treasure (龙凤酿五宝)
RM 12.50

Last but not least, first to be presented and exclusively available in Mid Valley restaurant is the Signature Five Treasure. Savoury deep fried tofu, silky bean curd (foo chok), egg plant, red and green capsicum generously filled with shrimp and chicken paste enhanced with Chef's Signature in house made black bean sauce for added flavour. Colourful and delectable dim sum dish makes its way into the hearts of many dim sum lovers again!

We were also treated to Tim Ho Wan's famous and all-time-favourite ~ 'Four Heavenly Kings', namely Baked Bun with BBQ Pork, Vermicelli Roll Stuffed With Pork Liver, Pan Fried Carrot Cake and Steamed Egg Cake. These are the 4 dim sum picks definitely not to be missed when dining at Tim Ho Wan.

Baked Bun with BBQ Pork (脆皮焗叉烧包)
RM 10.80 for 3 pieces

Crumbly and fluffy pork bun with the melt-in-the-mouth texture upon first bite makes a wonderful tasting experience with this unique pork bun. An interesting creation, moving away from the norm of typical Char Siew Pau, Tim Ho Wan modify the pau skin to a light base with slightly crunchy and crumbly pastry crust encasing the tasty sweet and saucy lean barbecue pork inside.

Sweet Savoury Barbecued Pork inside the fluffy bun

No one leaves Tim Ho Wan without getting a taste of the best sellers and to prove that point, Tim Ho Wan boasts of selling up to 15.000 plates or 45,000 buns per month from their restaurant alone. A Must-Try for any first timer to Tim Ho Wan!

Vermicelli Roll Stuffed with Pig's Liver (黄沙猪润肠)
RM 10.80

A different twist to the typically traditional  'Chee Cheong Fun' dish. The velvety texture vermicelli rolls were stuffed with pork liver which lends a gamey flavour. I'm not a great fan of pork liver, so I cannot really appreciate this interesting dish.

Pan Fried Carrot Cake (香煎萝卜糕)
RM 9.80

Steamed Egg Cake (香滑马来糕)
RM 7.80

This special Steamed Egg Cake was served steaming hot, comes with a light and spongy texture. Flavourful caramelised taste and not too overly sweet. I also found out that it takes 3 days of preparation for it to become soft and fluffy.

Other menu mainstays include the Braised Chicken Feet with Abalone Sauce, Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf, Deep Fried Beancurd Skin Roll with Shrimp and many more.

Braised Chicken Feet with Abalone Sauce (鲍汁焖凤爪)
 RM 9.80

Glutinous Rice with Lotus Leaf (古法糯米鸡)
RM 12.80

Vermicelli Roll with Sweet and Sesame Sauce (大排档肠粉)
RM 7.80

Beancurd Skin Roll with Shrimp (鲜虾腐皮卷)
RM 10.80

Tonic Medlar and Osmanthus Cake (杞子桂花糕)
RM 6.80

Menu List with 25 types of Dim Sum

Tim Ho Wan marched its way with pride into the prestigious Michelin guide parade with selection of 25 scrumptious choices of freshly made dim sum to tempt your taste buds.

In line with the Tim Ho Wan tradition, seating will be on a first-come first-served basis. Dining area at the ground floor are open to public with a seating capacity of 100 pax. Besides that, reservation can be made for a private dining room on the upper floor with a minimum spending of RM 50 per person. Each special private dining can seats up to at least 10 pax with an additional flat charge of RM 38 per room.

Frankly speaking, Tim Ho Wan is not the place for having a tete-a-tete with family or friends where you can spend hours eating and chatting over tea and dim sum. Basically, it's a place to have a quick meal over some freshly made dim sum. pay up and leave as soon as you can, in order not to hold up the seats while seeing others queueing up outside at the restaurant.

Anyway, fret not ~ Good news on the way as Tim Ho Wan is opening the 2nd outlet in Malaysia at One Utama Shopping Mall by the end of April 2015!
